Coherence among the Rio Conventions requires joint guidance to conserve and restore ecosystem carbon reservoirs, enhance ecosystem stability, and reduce emission risks, while strengthening understanding of biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and their role in climate policy and market and non-market mechanisms to deliver robust synergies.
Description de la séance
Achieving policy coherence between the RIO Conventions through synergistic action requires joint work to develop guidance on priority actions to retain and recover ecosystem carbon reservoirs and improve the stability of ecosystems to reduce the risks of emissions from terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Understanding the function of biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and their relevance for climate policy and market and non-market mechanisms for achieving robust synergies, needs to be strengthened.Speaker
