Pourquoi participer

Attend this session to explore how the energy sector manages biodiversity impacts while meeting energy demand. Learn from Shell’s Ecowende offshore wind project and the BFIS framework, a practical tool for assessing, managing, and reporting site-level biodiversity impacts, prioritising actions, and aligning with regulatory and investor expectations.

Description de la séance

The energy sector is increasingly adopting nature-inclusive approaches to manage biodiversity impacts while meeting growing global energy demand. This session showcases biodiversity-integrated design in renewable energy through Shell’s Ecowende project, a pioneering offshore wind initiative that embeds ecological innovation across its development. It also introduces the Biodiversity Footprint Impact from Sites (BFIS) framework, a scalable tool using the IUCN STAR metric to assess and manage biodiversity impacts at site level. BFIS enables companies to prioritise sites, validate risks, and align mitigation actions with regulatory and investor disclosure requirements, helping turn biodiversity commitments into measurable, actionable outcomes. Participants will gain insights into practical strategies for embedding biodiversity considerations into energy projects and learn how consistent, science-based tools can support decision-making, reporting, and portfolio-level impact management.
