Pourquoi participer

Effective communication on coral bleaching events builds on decades of global experience. This session offers a framework for adapting international lessons to improve communication in diverse regional contexts. Learn how to translate complex science into clear, actionable messages for policymakers and the public, strengthening conservation outcomes worldwide.

Description de la séance

This session opens a conversation on standardizing bleaching communication, using a Great Barrier Reef (GBR) case study as a starting point. We will begin with a transparent discussion of this framework's limitations for global application, acknowledging that a one-size-fits-all approach is insufficient. This leads to the event's core goal: an open call for collaboration. A panel discussion will explore what a truly inclusive, global standard could look like, emphasizing the need to build upon the decades of work from successful, long-standing programmes, such as the Western Indian Ocean's regional alert system and the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network. The interactive second half is dedicated to leveraging the diverse experience of participants to co-design a communication framework that serves the entire global community, from high-capacity nations to developing countries.
