his session centers Indigenous Peoples and local communities as leaders in resource mobilization to achieve Target 19(f) of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, highlighting GEF-supported actions. Presenters will share practical experiences with direct access to finance, emphasizing partnerships grounded in a Mother Earth–centric, ecocentric, and rights-based approach. Such collaborations foster harmonious relationships between people and nature, uphold the non-commodification of environmental functions, and strengthen community-led biodiversity stewardship. Participants will gain insights into effective funding modalities, governance arrangements, and safeguards that respect Indigenous rights and knowledge systems while delivering conservation outcomes.
