Rachael BARZA

Biographie

Dr Rachael Barza is an economist specialising in systemic resilience, including both human system resilience to climate change and nature and biodiversity decline, and natural system resilience to climate change and human activities. At the EBRD, Rachael leads the climate adaptation and nature finance team, which supports all of the Bank’s investments in ensuring alignment with the Paris Agreement for adaptation, develops new investment opportunities for nature finance and climate resilience, and provides policy dialog and investment strategies on those topics across all of the Bank’s sectors and geographies. She sits on the Impact Board for the European Commission-funded GoNaturePositive! Initiative and the African Climate Foundation’s Steering Committee on Adaptation Investment. 

Before the EBRD, Rachael worked in consulting across energy, financial markets, climate change adaptation, and disaster response. She has a PhD in economics from Harvard University and a BA in economics and mathematics from Barnard College.
