Jayant SARNAIK

Biographie

A conservation and sustainability practitioner working on innovative solutions for biodiversity and freshwater ecosystems conservation in the Western Ghats of India. I am conservation entrepreneur with an experience of over 25 years in the field of natural resource conservation especially forests, biodiversity and freshwater. I have gained all this experience while working with different stakeholder groups such as local communities, private sector and government institutions in the Western Ghats of India. I have successfully used market based mechanisms such as ecolabelling, branding and positive incentives for saving threatened biodiversity of the Western Ghats of Ind-a global biodiversity hotspot. I am recipient of IUCN practitioner fellowship and Conservation Leadership Program final award. I hold a patent in process technology for wastewater recycling. I recently completed Executive education program on Social Entrepreneurship at Stanford University, USA. I am a National Geographic Explorer. I am also serving on the Board of Directors of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials(RSB) - multi-stakeholder platform which has contributed to development of Gold Standard in certification of Sustainable Aviation Fuel(SAF)
