Discover ways to produce measures and to communicate the economic rationale for protecting nature at national, subnational and local levels to policymakers, based on a nation-wide assessment of all protected and conserved areas in Canada.
Description de la séance
Join an interactive workshop that lays out the economic rationale for protecting nature. In a context where financing for conservation constantly competes against numerous policy priorities, this session explores how nature contributes to national economies, climate resilience, and health and well-being. Through modeling, we share how Canada's terrestrial and marine protected and conserved areas generate billions in economic activity, store vast amounts of carbon, provide essential ecosystem services, and contribute to a higher sense of well-being. Participants will explore real-world data at subnational levels and three case studies across Canada based on national statistics and survey data. This workshop is ideal for policymakers, environmental professionals, and advocates for conservation. Gain tools and strategies to measure and integrate nature's value into planning, advocacy, and decision-making. This workshop offers professionals of all levels practical knowledge and inspiration to help protect and promote the natural assets that support our lives and communities.Organised by
