Pourquoi participer

Learn and share your knowledge about behaviour change and sustainability science and how shifting our anthropocentric view of life on Earth and incorporating nature-based education in informal and formal education settings are required to inspire transformative change in efforts to tackle biodiversity loss and climate change.

Description de la séance

Aligning with the motion submission of the same name (Motion 128), experts from a broad spectrum (e.g. behaviour change science, sustainability science, Indigenous traditional knowledge and conservation, etc.) will lead a fishbowl discussion on the importance of ecocentric learning in affecting transformative change for nature. They will present research findings on this topic, discuss the changing landscape on how children are connecting with nature in formal and informal education settings and within an increasingly urban-based population. They will also explore the practical barriers (e.g. time, resources, competence, knowledge) that impedes a rigorous evaluation of the impact of these activities and seek participant input and best practices on how to measure human-nature connectedness as part of the broad-based action required to bring about a transformation in our societies’ relationships with biodiversity.
