Biographie

Mr. Sav It is the Head of the O’Tung Community Protected Area (CPA) Committee in Virachey National Park (VNP), in Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia. He has more than 15 years of experience in community-based forest management and conservation. Since the establishment of O’Tung CPA in 2005, later officially recognized by Ministry of Environment in 2006, Mr. Sav It has played a central role in protecting forest and promoting sustainable livelihoods. He began his journey as a community patroller, where he gained firsthand experience in forest monitoring and rule enforcement. In 2013, he was elected Head of the CPA Committee, and the community keep re-electing him every five years due to his strong leadership and dedication. Under his guidance, the CPA has improved sustainable management of Malva Nut, improved household incomes, reduced illegal activities, and strengthened Indigenous governance and cultural traditions.
