Biographie

Kaddu Kiwe Sebunya is a prominent conservation leader, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) since 2019. With over 30 years of experience spanning grassroots, national, and global platforms, Kaddu has dedicated his career to safeguarding Africa’s wildlife and wildlands while championing their integration into sustainable development.

Under Kaddu’s leadership, AWF has emerged as a driving force in redefining conservation through African leadership. He spearheaded the organization’s ambitious 10-year strategic vision, focusing on fostering stewardship of Africa’s natural heritage, promoting coexistence between people and wildlife, and preserving at-risk species and ecosystems. His advocacy underscores that conservation and economic progress are mutually reinforcing, positioning wildlife and wildlands as cultural and economic assets.

Kaddu’s influence extends across high-level forums like the Africa Protected Area Congress and the U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit, where he champions policy reforms and partnerships to address biodiversity loss and environmental threats. Beyond AWF, he is a respected voice in global conservation networks such as the Club of Rome and the East Africa Wildlife Society.

Kaddu holds dual master’s degrees from Tufts University and the University of London, complementing his bachelor’s degree in social sciences. His visionary leadership continues to inspire efforts to protect Africa’s natural heritage while advancing sustainable development for future generations.
