Education
MSc. in Agriculture Extension from the Reading University, UK–(1993)
BSc in Agri Engineering from the University of Faisalabad, Pakistan–(1986)
Professional experience:
Mr. Cheema has over 30 years of experience in natural resource management. With more than 20 years of experience with IUCN, he had been entrusted with the Acting Country Representative IUCN Pakistan role twice previously (in 2006 and in 2012). Mr. Cheema headed IUCN`s Islamabad programme office for more than six years and made significant contributions to IUCN programme development as a whole while establishing and maintaining linkages with the Government, NGOs and IUCN members and partners. At present he is Country Representative, IUCN Pakistan (November 2012-todate).
Mr. Cheema holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan and a Master of Science in Agriculture Extension from University of Reading, U.K
Among numerous affiliations, he is a Founder Member and Member BoD of Human Resource Development Network (HRDN); Member BoD of Energy Conservation Fund, Pakistan; Member of BoD of Mountain Areas Conservancy Fund; Member BoG of GCISC, Member of Greeen Task Force KP, Member Environment Donor Coordination Group; Member Advisory Group on Climate Change, MoCC Islamabad Pakistan.
Mr. Cheema represents IUCN in Pakistan, working with the membership – both governmental and non-governmental – and with other appropriate partners. In his role as Country Representative, he also has responsibility for the management and development of IUCN’s Programme in Pakistan, and reports to the Regional Director, IUCN Asia.
