Mamadou is a specialist in protected area management, having successfully completed several training courses and diplomas. He has benefited from IUCN scholarships on several occasions since the DU organised each year in Ouagadougou in 2010.
He was then selected by IUCN to follow the GAP Master in Alexandria, Egypt, when the Master was launched.
He has held several positions in the field of nature conservation for over 20 years at the Senegalese Ministry of the Environment. He is a specialist in species monitoring using recent technologies such as passive acoustics, environmental DNA and DNA barcoding, on which he is currently completing his thesis at the Marbec laboratory in Montpellier and Sète in France.
Currently, Mamadou is a Green List Project Officer at IUCN and is involved in the development of the green list in the PACO zone. He is a specialist in protected area management with extensive experience as a protected area conservationist in Senegal. He is also a coach for a number of management effectiveness assessment tools and some tools relating to resilience issues. He has been regularly involved in the evaluation of protected areas in West and Central Africa for several years.
