Ms Ndapanda Kanime, Senior Programme Officer responsbible for Natural Resources and Wildlife- SADC Secretariat
Ndapanda, a Namibian national, is currently a Senior Programme Officer responsible for Natural Resources and Wildlife (SPO-NR&W), under the Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources, SADC Secretariat. Ms Kanime holds a Honors Degree in Forestry from the University of Wales, Bangor, UK and a Master’s Degree in Agriculture from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India.
While working for the Government of Namibia she was involved in Forestry research, biodiversity management and conservation as well as integrated protected area planning and management for over 20 years and she has contributed positively on the Forest Inventory, Land Degradation Neutrality and on National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan for Namibia. Furthermore, Ms Kanime has been a Namibian focal point for the Forest Resources Assessment. Ms Kanime as Deputy Director of the Rural Development in some of the regions of Namibia, she contributed to the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, mainly forestry and environment, which included the Etosha National Park of Namibia, as a vegetation assessment expert.
Ms Kanime as currently a Senior Programme Officer responsible for Natural resources and Wildlife Unit, at SADC Secretariat where she is in charge of the Forestry, Fisheries, Wildlife and Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) in SADC region, believes in teamwork and is committed to uphold the values of SADC that coincide well with her personal passion for the emancipation of the society, including local communities in remote areas, therefore, there is no doubt that her wealth of experience, leadership and passion in natural resources conservation, and community engagement, will be very instrumental in elevating the work of the SADC to greater heights. SADC has held the conference and Summit to celebrated the 25th years Anniversary for the TFCAs in the region which was a big achievement.
