Mr. ‘Akauola is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change, Communication, and Cybersecurity since 7th September 2023. He is responsible for implementing government policies and decisions, and he is also leading and managing the administrative functions and operational activities of the Ministry.
Prior to becoming the CEO for MEIDECC, he was worked up his professional career as the CEO for the Ministry of Public Enterprises, Deputy CEO for Public Enterprises, Director of Corporate Services for the Ministry of Infrastructure, Acting CEO for the Ministry of Transport, Acting CEO for Public Service Commission, Acting CEO for the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Acting CEO for Marine & Ports, Deputy Secretary for the Ministry for Marine and Ports, and Senior Assistant Secretary at Prime Minister’s Officer for more than 20 years.
Mr. ‘Akauola was also engaged in some major reform in the government such as leading the implementation of the Organizational and System changes in the consolidation of the Ministry of Transport and the consolidation of the Ministry of Infrastructure. He was also involved in major reforms for the Government State Owned Enterprises (Public enterprises).
Mr. Akauola has attained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration and Management, and a Master in Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific.
