I am a seasoned communication professional and biodiversity conservation advocate with over two decades of experience in policy advocacy for environmental conservation. I have consistently raised awareness on environmental issues, sustainable development, gender justice, and media advocacy. I have held strategic roles at the Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF), in the private sector, and with government entities, establishing extensive networks with media professionals and institutions both nationally and internationally. I am a graduate from Tribhuvan University majoring Sociology, specialization in Economics, Gender Study, Anthropology, Journalism and Mass Communication. I have also completed various media and gender training courses in Nepal and abroad. I am known for strong analytical abilities, team spirit, and capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Additionally, I excels in coordination across my networks and also proficient in both English and Nepali.
Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:
At the age of 17 years, I began my career in audio-visual production, focusing environmental issues. I have produced numerous environmental documentaries for national media, collaborating with both national and international partners. I have been actively involved in policy review, advocacy on environmental issues, sensitizing journalists through media workshops/ training sessions across Nepal. The work, I have accomplished covered a wide range of topics, including endangered species, indigenous knowledge, climate change, genetic resources, biodiversity conservation, and the rights of minorities. In 2024, for the first time, the NNC, IUCN organized the first NCF where I played the key role for its ultimate success. I was the elected first women President in the history of the NEFEJ after over two decades involvement. Currently, I am serving as a Board Member at the Small Mammals Conservation and Research Foundation (SMCRF) which is led by a young and energetic team.
