Candidate info

Particular qualifications:

Currently Regional Councillor for Western Europe, I am a candidate for a second term to continue my work to further promote the Union. Over the past four years, I have been deeply committed to the IUCN, participating in all Council meetings, organizing the Union’s 75th anniversary, and representing the IUCN at the World Urban Fora in Poland and Egypt. As Vice-President of the Governance and Constituency Committee, I have been highly engaged in my role, participating in various task forces on working groups on topics such as "Private Sector” or "Impact of Armed Conflict on Nature". I chaired the Fees Task Force, leading a deep reflection to change the fees system, particularly for zoos and universities. I am continuing this work to better include indigenous people organisations and members facing temporary difficulties. I was also recently appointed as deputy chair for the Motion Working Group to prepare our next Congress. I worked closely with European members by participating in the national committees working group, attending the European Regional Conservation Forum and Workshops in Brussels. I worked bilaterally with our experts from the IUCN Species Survival Commission on issues related to combating such as illegal wildlife trade and wolf protection. President of the French Committee I helped to organize the 2021 Congress in Marseille. Finally, I worked to strengthen relationships among French-speaking members by organizing webinars to discuss international issues.

Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:

My candidacy is one of a nature protection activist, trained in environmental law, professionally engaged in national and international action. As President of the IUCN French Committee, Deputy Secretary of BirdLife France and Vice-President of the Jane Goodall Institute France, I gained strong expertise in key conservation topics like the IUCN Red and Green Lists. I am involved in the conservation of chimpanzees in Senegal, working with local communities. Nature conservation has been a focus of my various mandates as a local councillor, notably in the city of Paris. Convinced by the role that subnational governments can play for conservation, I work closely with IUCN regions and cities. I have solid experience in international negotiations, having worked as a lawyer and French government representative to improve species and ecosystem protection, and participated in several COPs. I am committed to the fight against gender inequality by leading an international women’s network.
