Drawing from regional and international experiences, it will highlight how fisheries management can serve as both a climate mitigation and biodiversity conservation tool while supporting economic resilience.
The session will delve into the carbon sequestration potential of marine ecosystems (blue carbon) , the impact of climate change on fish stocks and marine biodiversity, and the integration of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) and ecosystem-based management to ensure fisheries contribute to nature-positive economies.
It will showcase national, regional and international innovative approaches to aligning fisheries policy with climate and conservation goals, emphasizing data-driven decision-making, international cooperation, and investment strategies for sustainable growth.
