Description de la séance
Rangers play an indispensable role in preserving biodiversity & supporting Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities in protected & conserved areas. Often spending long periods away from their families in remote locations, they face threats from poachers, illegal loggers, & wildlife. With limited support, they endure psychological & physical pressures that impact their mental health & well-being. Isolation, fatigue, & post-traumatic stress can reduce effectiveness & lead to personal loss. A coalition of the International Ranger Federation, the Universal Ranger Support Alliance, WCPA, The Royal Foundation, SAVSIM, GRAA & key partners is developing a mental health toolkit to address these challenges. The session will explore case studies, best practices, & culturally sensitive approaches while outlining a roadmap for solutions. The toolkit, covering causes, identification, mitigation, & support systems, will be launched at WCC in a high-profile event alongside discussions on ranger-related mental &health challenges.Moderator
