This high-level session celebrates the launch of the programme "Strengthening Coral Reef Protection, Monitoring, and Sustainable Financing in the Gulf of Aqaba," funded by the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR). Led in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and UNDP- Jordan, the programme marks a major step forward in safeguarding one of the world’s most resilient coral reef ecosystems. the session will highlight how this initiative will enhance reef protection and establish sustainable financing models. It showcases Jordan’s leadership in marine conservation and contributes to broader regional and global biodiversity goals, climate resilience and blue economy.
