Description de la séance
This event, “Safeguarding Africa’s Keystone Protected Areas through Enhanced Collaborative Management Partnerships”, highlights the vital role of Africa’s most ecologically important protected areas in supporting biodiversity, climate resilience, and the livelihoods of over 70 million people. These landscapes provide essential ecosystem services, protect 71% of threatened species, and contribute to local economies. However, they face challenges such as limited financing, capacity gaps, and climate threats. The event will showcase the Africa Keystone Protected Areas Partnership as a transformative, African-led initiative that unites governments, communities, indigenous peoples, civil society, and the private sector to co-develop inclusive and sustainable conservation models. Featuring practical examples from Mozambique, the session will emphasize the role of Conservation Trust Funds like BIOFUND in ensuring long-term, predictable financing. Through panel discussions and reflections, participants will gain practical insights and reinforce momentum for collaborative, equitable, and resilient conservation governance across Africa’s protected and conserved areas.Organized by
