This session introduces a pioneering framework for standardizing the assessment and communication of coral bleaching event impacts. Learn a unified approach to classify event severity, combat misinformation, and clearly articulate the ecological stakes to policymakers and the public, helping to drive policy action and overcome public confusion.
Description de la séance
This session directly confronts the challenge of miscommunication surrounding coral bleaching. We will begin by introducing the Coral Bleaching Assessment Framework, a novel, tiered system for classifying events from 'low impact' to 'Catastrophic impact.' A panel of experts—representing cutting-edge science, policy implementation, and science communication—will discuss the framework's application. The second half of the session will be an interactive workshop where participants use the framework to analyse a hypothetical bleaching scenario, fostering a practical understanding of its use and encouraging feedback for its global adoption. The goal is to move beyond anecdotes towards a unified, data-driven narrative on coral health.Organized by
