The focus will be on 27 case studies profiled in a new WCPA technical report, Enhancing Climate Change Mitigation in Protected Areas. Panelists will speak to the successes and challenges documented in the case studies. An open discussion will allow participants to ask questions and share their own experiences.

Managing protected areas to enhance carbon reserves and protect the ability of ecosystems to sequester carbon is the most effective Natural Climate Solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Following a brief summary of the report contents, the focus will shift to the 27 case studies presented in the report. Panelists will briefly present their goals, methodologies, successes and challenges. A moderated discussion will follow in which participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences in incorporating climate change mitigation into protected areas management.
