This session brings together Emirati fishing communities to share their experiences, knowledge, and needs in open dialogue with each other, government leaders, and industry stakeholders, exploring ways to strengthen artisanal fisheries, safeguard ecosystems, and ensure the wisdom of those who live by the water guides the decisions that affect it.
Description de la séance
Part of the MENA Oceans Summit 2025, The Regenerative Fisheries Majlis – UAE Edit is the first in a series of regional convenings that bring together indigenous fishermen and women, government representatives, and key private sector stakeholders to co-create the future of sustainable fisheries. In the spirit of the majlis, the session is a space for open dialogue, mutual respect, and community. Participants will exchange experiences, identify opportunities to safeguard artisanal fishing traditions, and explore pathways to integrate traditional wisdom into national and regional policies. Discussions focus on strengthening livelihoods, conserving marine ecosystems, and fostering partnerships that support heritage and innovation. By centring the voices of those who have carried this maritime heritage for generations, the Majlis offers a roadmap for resilient fisheries, thriving communities, and a shared vision for sustainable ocean stewardship across the MENA region.Organised by
