Launching the IUCN Extinct in the Wild Action Partnership’s for species lost from nature – species that could return to the wild & restore ecosystem health. Conversations surrounding disruptive innovation and when embracing progressive change. Hear from IUCN SSC Chair Jon Paul Rodrigues and Vivek Menon and EWAP Steering Group.
Description de la séance
The IUCN SSC Extinct in the Wild Action Partnership is a global initiative making a significant contribution toward rescuing species on the brink of extinction, revitalizing ex situ populations of EW species, recovering wild populations via first release, and promoting subsequent reinforcement for establishing wild populations (the 4Rs). Toward these four goals, this session will promote strategic thinking and connection to help develop these concepts and shape good practice to deliver on this ambition. Critical conversations surrounding disruptive conservation efforts and opportunities for scaling impact for long-term implementation efforts will be analysed. To encourage inspiring discussion, session leaders will send advance invitations to individuals and organizations bringing in diverse partners including from the global south, enabling deep discussion into new pathways for recovering Extinct in the Wild species and, in doing so, reverse biodiversity declines and restore ecosystem health.Organised by
