The oil and gas industry is pursuing expansive developments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and fracked methane gas pipelines around the world. Not only is the lock-in of LNG detrimental to the climate, but such rapid expansion also causes numerous negative impacts to marine and terrestrial life. This session will spotlight the Gulf of California, and shed light on the LNG projects jeopardizing this precious and unique area. The session will present the latest science on the impacts to biodiversity and the growing conservation efforts. It will encourage ideas from the audience to help prevent the habitat and species loss brought about by LNG industrialization.Organised by
