Pourquoi participer

This is an opportunity to hear directly from indigenous and community delegates about their aspirations for conservation and sustainable use on their lands, and reflect on the kinds of changes that are needed in the support provided by conservation actors and funders.

Description de la séance

One change that is needed in order to scale up support for indigenous and community-led conservation is simply to listen to what they have to say rather than making assumptions about their views. In this session, IP and LC delegates will communicate some key messages about what they think conservationists and funders need to do differently to support them as leaders of conservation and sustainable use on their lands and territories. We will hear from delegates from Thailand, Kenya, Peru, Nepal and the Democratic Republic of Congo and reflect on what general themes and recommendations can be drawn.
