Pourquoi participer

We need entirely new industries to replace harmful value chains and build the regenerative economies of the future. Join this interactive fishbowl with leaders in conservation and alternative proteins to explore how replacement products can open nature-positive opportunities for Amazonian people while advancing global and regional conservation goals.

Description de la séance

While sustainable “bioeconomies” for the Amazon are widely discussed, bolder approaches are urgently needed to replace harmful value chains at meaningful scales. Emerging industries such as alternative proteins can help catalyze regenerative economies by creating high-value, nature positive opportunities for Amazonian communities. Yet, despite the fact that animal agriculture is a leading driver of global biodiversity loss, the conservation community has not seriously engaged with alternative proteins or other replacement industries as tools for sustainable transformation. This session will explore pathways for Amazonian countries to lead in these globally significant sectors, considering both opportunities and challenges. Participants will examine how supply chains can be scaled appropriately in the region and how innovation can generate sustainable value chains to transform economies in the Amazon and beyond. Using a dynamic fishbowl format, the discussion will foster active participation and diverse perspectives.
