Description de la séance
China's urbanization stands as one of the most remarkable socio-economic developments of the 21st century. Within just over four decades, the urbanization rate of the permanent resident population has soared from 18% in 1978 to 67% in 2024, with the urban permanent resident population surpassing 924 million. Cities also boast rich biodiversity; however, the rapid pace of urbanization has exerted a more significant impact on urban biodiversity, exacerbating conflicts. Urban biodiversity is now confronted with a range of challenges, including habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation, as well as the influence of invasive species. For the biodiversity that remains in cities, it is of paramount importance to humans, as it not only fulfills its normal ecological functions but also holds significant value. Urban biodiversity is the most perceptible form of biodiversity for the majority of people and serves as a crucial indicator of livable, sustainable, and harmonious urban development.Partenaires
