Dr. Pengbin WANG is Nature-based Solutions Advisor of Nature-based Solution Management Hub, IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). He obtained his PhD from Hanyang University, South Korea. He is Chinese Focal point of IOC-FAO Intergovernmental Panel on Harmful Algae Blooms (IPHAB), Co-Chair of North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES) Section on Ecology of Harmful Algal Blooms in the North Pacific (S-HAB) and initiated the UNESCO IOC WESTPAC WORKING GROUP Rapid Detection Technology for Harmful Algal Blooms (WESTPAC-RDT-HAB). He also serves as Scientific Steering Members in a number of international organizations. He got the Zhu-Peterson Early Career Scientist Award in October 2020 from PICES. His research focus span from taxonomy, molecular systematics and evolution of microalgae to algal physiology and marine micro ecology. Also, he has done much applied work on the usage of microalgae as a kind of marine resource. He has published more than 40 scientific papers, acquired 2 national/international patents, and as principal investigator of 15 project, including National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC), China-APEC Funding and Thailand-China Joint Projects.
