Session Description
This session marks the launch of the IUCN Sectoral Interpretation for Urban Nature-based Solutions (NbS), developed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Designed to support urban policymakers, planners, and stakeholders, this new resource offers a practical framework for integrating NbS into urban development to address climate risks, biodiversity loss, and social inequalities. Participants will gain insights into strategies for scaling and implementing NbS, with three case studies presented from Thailand, the Mediterranean region, and Africa. These real-world examples will demonstrate how NbS can effectively tackle societal challenges in urban contexts, from enhancing resilience to promoting equity and improving quality of life. The session will also foster dialogue on overcoming barriers related to policy, financing, and technical capacity—highlighting opportunities for collaboration and ensuring cities can leverage NbS as a catalyst for greener, healthier, and more sustainable urban futures.Organised by
