Description de la séance

This Wold Café session will highlight global priorities and current approaches to IAS management in freshwater ecosystems, featuring insights from the IUCN IAS Specialist Group on international policies for eradication. Case studies will showcase successful initiatives, including France’s national IAS plan, fish species removal in Indonesia’s ancient Sulawesi lakes, the role of IAS in the Klamath Dam removal in North America, and the eradication of invasive trout from Argentina’s Valcetta stream.

Participants will engage in discussions on best practices, major challenges, and collaborative solutions to strengthen IAS management efforts. By integrating expertise from IUCN members and international case studies, this session aims to drive meaningful action, enhance ecosystem resilience, and foster cross-sector collaboration. Attendees will gain practical strategies to improve conservation efforts, scale up IAS eradication initiatives, and support the long-term protection of freshwater biodiversity.
