Join the 15 of 30 Revolution, the first step toward shaping a new strategy that recognizes IPLCs and OECMs as central to achieving 30x30. Be part of redefining conservation pathways for the next five years.
Description de la séance
With just five years left to achieve the global 30x30 biodiversity target, urgency is paramount. The “15 of 30 Revolution” highlights the indispensable role of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) and Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs), whose stewardship already safeguards vast ecosystems yet often goes unrecognized in official counts. Protected areas alone will not be enough, achieving Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework requires valuing diverse governance models, securing rights, and scaling inclusive approaches. This session will explore how IPLC-led conservation and OECMs contribute to ecological resilience, cultural integrity, and global commitments. Through case studies and dialogue among IPLC representatives, policymakers, and practitioners, participants will co-develop pathways to elevate recognition, strengthen partnerships, and embed equity at the core of implementation, turning ambition into urgent, coordinated action.Speaker
