Description de la séance

Conservation stands at a crossroads: ecological crises are inseparable from social, cultural, and political challenges. Reimagine Conservation: Toward a Flourishing Future, the latest issue of Policy Matters, explores what it takes to move beyond exclusionary, colonial models toward approaches grounded in justice, equity, and care. This session highlights powerful stories of transformation from across the globe—Indigenous-led biodiversity strategies in the Philippines, women- and youth-led conservation movements, revitalization of traditional fire management, and redefined partnerships between communities and institutions. By weaving together diverse knowledge systems, confronting entrenched power dynamics, and advancing rights-based approaches, these contributions illuminate pathways toward more inclusive and effective conservation. Participants will gain insights into how conservation can shift from imposing uniform models to affirming plural systems of governance and relationship with nature. Join us to reimagine not only how conservation is practiced, but why it matters—for people, cultures, and the planet’s future.
