International lawyer and expert in political sciences with significant experience and in the field of sustainable development, climate and environmental social governance (ESG). She is Chief Executive and founder of the Inter-American Institute on Justice and Sustainability (IIJS, LLC). Her Areas of expertise include, rule of law and environmental justice, human rights, climate change, natural resources, water and biodiversity, sustainable finance, development projects and multistakeholder processes. Recognized trajectory in sustainability diplomacy and the works and operations of international organizations, in the UN and Inter-American System and with Multilateral Development Banks -MDBs-, financial, government and corporate institutions. Professor at judicial and prosecutorial academies as well as in globally renowned academic faculties, such as American University, Washington College of Law where she teaches Human Rights and the Environment, and the University of Salamanca in Spain. 

Published author, honored with various awards and distinctions. Appointed to internationally recognized high-level advisory and expert groups, including for the resolution of international treaty disputes. Among other board memberships, currently serves in the World Commission on Environmental Law, Steering Committee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and in the roster of experts of the Inter-American Development Bank’s Independent Accountability Mechanism (MICI). de Windt is a Graduate of Universidad Iberoamericana, UNIBE (Doctor in Law). Master's Degree (LLM) in International Legal Studies from the American University Law School. Certificate in Negotiations from the Harvard University School of Law.
