Por qué asistir

Attend this session to explore the Species Use Database (SpUD) and its role in documenting species use for conservation, trade, and livelihoods. Learn to navigate SpUD, enter records, and apply the 5D framework. Gain hands-on experience and insights to enhance data-driven conservation strategies. Essential for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

Descripción de la sesión

This will be an interactive session on the Species Use Database (SpUD), a vital tool for documenting and analysing how species are used across conservation, trade, and subsistence contexts. This session will introduce SpUD’s purpose and functionality, followed by a live demonstration on navigating the database, searching for species, and extracting key data points. Participants will also gain insights into the 5D Sustainability Framework, which provides a holistic approach to evaluating species use.

A hands-on participation segment will guide attendees through the process of entering a record using a real-world example. You’ll learn how to contribute accurate data and avoid common pitfalls. By the end, you’ll understand how SpUD supports conservation decision-making and how you can contribute to improving its data quality.

This session is ideal for researchers, conservationists, and policymakers seeking to enhance their use of data-driven approaches in biodiversity management.
