The Global Biodiversity Framework, with its target 14, seeks to improve biodiversity mainstreaming. This session will explore challenges and ways to integrate biodiversity preservation in international cooperation actions such as development or humanitarian activities. It will explore this complex topic to provide a thorough analysis and understanding of the issue.

Biodiversity conservation and socio-economic development goals can be sought within the same territories by different actors, sometimes with inconsistent approaches. To mainstream biodiversity and ensure a « do no harm » approach, both for humans and for nature, it is crucial to encourage more synergies.

This session will allow to:

Veronica Ruiz, IUCN Coordinator of the FEBA Working Group on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in humanitarian contexts to present tools and methods

Chloé Orland will present how Action Against Hunger France apprehends transversal issues such as biodiversity (integration of climate and biodiversity crises into their programs, focusing on reducing their environmental footprint and achieving a positive environmental impact)

Nicolas Salaün, IUCN French Committee International Cooperation Program manager to present “geographical meetings” gathering French international cooperation organizations working on a same geographical scope to encourage synergies

Cheryl Margoluis, Executive director of the Care-WWF Alliance will present the partnership and its operational functioning
