Explore how crimes that affect the environment (CAE) and its subset “nature crime” impact conservation, governance, security, health, and human rights, and collaborate with IUCN members to shape strategic priorities and actionable solutions for integrating this critical issue into IUCN’s mandate and programs.
Descripción de la sesión
This 90-minute hybrid World Café session will position Crimes that Affect the Environment (CAE) as a critical, cross-cutting challenge intersecting with conservation, governance, security, health, and human rights. It will place particular emphasis on nature crime—a subset of CAE that includes wildlife trafficking, illegal logging, mining, and fishing—aligning closely with IUCN’s mission and Programme. The session will open with an overview of CAE and nature crime’s systemic impacts and its implications for biodiversity and ecosystem resilience, followed by a panel of IUCN member organizations sharing actionable insights and solutions. Participants will then engage in interactive, rotating discussions to identify priorities and approaches for integrating nature crime into IUCN’s next program cycle.
Using live polling, Q&A, and facilitated dialogue, the session aims to foster cross-sector collaboration, mobilize commitments, and generate actionable recommendations to guide IUCN’s evolving role in tackling CAE and nature crime.
