Amphibians are the most threatened animal group, but so far global conservation efforts have been insufficient to reverse their decline. The Global Amphibian Coalition is working to scale up and multiply its impact by empowering countries to lead conservation efforts for amphibians and meet KM-GBF targets.
Descripción de la sesión
This thematic session discusses how the Global Amphibian Coalition is currently building capacity and providing guidance and support to countries to conserve threatened species. Using the IUCN SSC assess-plan-act cycle, this interactive session demonstrates how countries can scale up conservation efforts and meet their KM-GBF targets through science-based on-the-ground results. After an initial brief panel discussion, we will encourage an in-depth conversation and knowledge exchange asking the audience to share their conservation challenges and successes within their own countries, identifying conservation opportunities. Members of the coalition, including IUCN/SSC Amphibian SG, Re:wild, Amphibian Ark, Amphibian Survival Alliance, IUCN/SSC Conservation Planning SG, Synchronicity Earth and SSC national SGs, will offer advice and discuss how they can assist countries to enhance their conservation achievements and report on their KM-GBF targets. While using amphibians as a case study, this session is equally relevant for scaling up conservation efforts for all other taxonomic groups.Moderator
