Biografía
A.B.M. Sarowar Alam Dipu is spearheading the Vulture Conservation Initiative in Bangladesh and currently works for the IUCN Bangladesh. He is doing ground-breaking vulture conservation work and is (among other things) overseeing the management of two vast Vulture Safe Zones, and coordinating overall vulture related researches, maintaining communication and liaison with relevant government agencies and ministries and international conservation bodies, and all conservation work in Bangladesh.
He has been involved in some of the key vulture conservation milestones, including establishment of government approved Vulture Safe Zones, to country-wide banning of Ketoprofen in Bangladesh. He has published numerous books, scientific papers, article on vultures and wildlife including the book titles “Vultures and Vulture Safe Zones in Bangladesh”.
Since finishing his MSc in Zoology from Jahangirnagar University, Alam has worked as a wildlife and nature conservationist. He is considered an expert in threatened species and habitat conservation, and has also worked with other highly threatened species, including Critically Endangered Gharial crocodiles, Northern River Terrapins and the Ganges River Dolphin.
Alam is a member of the Bangladesh Bird Club, Oriental Bird Club and is an avid birdwatcher, photographer, writer and traveller.
