Por qué asistir

If you are wondering how stories have generationally shaped our outlook in the nature conservation world, this session shows how an inter-generational dialogue, combining classic and digital storytelling, turned maps and memories into powerful tools and bridged generations' dialogue, inspired ownership, and could spark ideas you never expected.

Descripción de la sesión

This session highlights the innovative community-led conservation approach implemented at the Harrat Uwayrid Biosphere Reserve in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, recognized under UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme. The session will showcase a participatory 3D mapping and youth digital storytelling initiative that engaged local women, men, youth, rangers, and tribal leaders in mapping their land and integrating traditional knowledge into conservation planning. Through youth-led digital narratives, the session will explore intergenerational perspectives on protected area ownership and management, and demonstrate how storytelling can influence conservation policy and practice.
