The event will highlight experiences from Jalthal Forest, Jhapa, Nepal, where Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are applied for ecological restoration, wetland conservation, and sustainable livelihoods. Jalthal is a critical habitat for Asian elephants, yet rising human–elephant conflict has created serious challenges for local communities. Separately, in Bardia’s buffer zone, communities are piloting a group insurance scheme to compensate crop damage from wildlife, offering an innovative model for coexistence. The session will showcase how forest and wetland restoration, conflict mitigation, and community-based management can be integrated with livelihood improvement and inclusive governance. The target audience includes conservation practitioners, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and civil society actors working on NbS, climate resilience, and human–wildlife coexistence.Speaker
