Professional Biography

Dr. Nedal Musa Al Ouran

Dr. Nedal Musa Al Ouran is a distinguished environmental governance and sustainable development expert with over 25 years of experience across Jordan and the wider MENA region. Currently serving as a Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Jordan. Previously, he served for around ten years as  Senior Programme Specialist and Head of the Sustainable Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth Portfolio at UNDP Jordan, he led strategic initiatives on climate change, disaster risk reduction, biodiversity, blue economy, and green finance.

His career spans high-impact roles in the United Nations system, academia, and civil society. As a former Associate Professor at Al-Balqa Applied University and a senior advisor with UNEP and PERSGA, Dr. Al Ouran has contributed extensively to environmental policy development, project management, and institutional capacity building. He has led numerous international assignments and authored key studies on marine spatial planning, environmental impact assessment (EIA), and sustainable coastal development.

A trusted advisor, trainer, and researcher, Dr. Al Ouran holds a PhD in Environmental Assessment and Management and advanced executive training from Harvard and the Geneva Graduate Institute. His dedication to environmental sustainability is matched by a strong commitment to cross-sectoral collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.
