Barbara CHESIRE

Biografía

Barbara has been in the insurance industry for 18 years and is passionate to see insurance play a role in increasing financial resilience across the continent. She co-founded AB Entheos in 2014 and has grown AB Entheos to be a world-renowned insurance catalyst that has projects across 12 countries in Africa. AB Entheos has pioneered insurance for Human-Wildlife Conflict covering over 8 million people in Kenya and Zambia through WILD Cover. The company has also developed ResilientME!, a financial literacy game that has been played by over 400,000 people across 6 countries in Africa. 

Barbara is a Henry Arnold Fellow with the Mulago Foundation, receiving support to scale and replicate AB Entheos’ Human-Wildlife Conflict Insurance solution across Africa. She is also a member of the IUCN Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Specialist Group. Barbara is an Oxford Graduate, graduating with a Postgraduate Degree in Global Business from Said Business School in 2024. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Calgary in Canada minoring in Statistics and Economics and has a Diploma in Actuarial Techniques. She serves on various boards including Britam Insurance and St. Andrew’s School Turi.
