Join Esri, the IUCN North America Regional Office, and IUCN Members in the United States and around the world to explore how conservation data can remain accessible and secure when political priorities shift. Discover practical strategies, real-world examples, and global lessons on preserving critical environmental datasets—ensuring science-based decision-making endures.

Descripción de la sesión

Environmental datasets underpin effective conservation planning, yet their availability can fluctuate with changing policies and priorities. With support from IUCN US Fund, this session assembles Esri expertise to share practical approaches for keeping biodiversity, climate, and habitat datasets consistently accessible over time. Speakers will share case studies that help ensure critical information remains reliable and usable for future research and decision-making. Real-world examples will illustrate how government agencies, academic institutions, and NGOs collaborate to maintain long-term access to vital datasets during periods of administrative or policy transition. Participants will also explore how these strategies can be adapted internationally, offering lessons that apply well beyond the United States. Join us to learn how resilient data practices can safeguard the evidence base for conservation and climate action, supporting sound decisions and lasting environmental outcomes regardless of shifting administrative landscapes.
