Discover how cities are leading the way in nature-positive urban transformation. Convened by IUCN with key partners, this session explores innovative planning, policy, and partnerships that embed biodiversity into urban systems—advancing climate resilience, equity, and well-being for all. Join us to shape cities that work for nature and people.

Description de la séance

With 70% of the global population projected to live in cities by 2050, urban areas are central to both the biodiversity crisis and its solutions. Convened by IUCN, with partners including Mexico City, the GEF, WRI, the National Institute of Ecology, IUCN WCPA, and the IUCN Secretariat, this side event will showcase how cities are integrating nature into planning, infrastructure, and governance to enhance climate resilience, public health, and social equity. Drawing on IUCN’s global work and local partnerships, the session will present practical tools and nature-based solutions that support biodiversity mainstreaming at the sub-national level. It will explore how urban transformation—through inclusive planning, policy innovation, and community engagement—can deliver positive outcomes for both people and nature.
