Why attend
Madagascar has the greatest concentration of unique and endemic biodiversity on Earth and sadly many threatened species. This session unites all IUCN Members in the country to engage WCC participants in a dynamic exchange of knowledge, sharing successes, and establish a platform to develop collaborative conservation strategies for its future.
Session Description
Eleven IUCN Members in Madagascar plus 19 other Malagasy conservation NGOs, government entities and academia have collaborated to undertake and promote this session in order to establish a platform to share and discuss approaches and strategies towards saving Madagascar's extraordinary unique and threatened biodiversity.The session will include launching the "Madagascar Protected Areas Outlook 2025" authored by 34 Malagasy NGOs and government environmental entities; then lightening talks "Conservation Showcase – Successful Examples of Conservation Action"; followed by the main interactive segment "Interactive Future Planning and Funding Needs" to brainstorm solutions, propose ideas for collaboration, and discuss the necessary financial and institutional support to drive long-term conservation success.
