Session Description
Brazil harbors one of the most incredible biodiversity on the planet, but faces growing challenges from habitat loss and species decline. The 14 National Centers for Research and Conservation (CNPCs) of ICMBio are responsible for strategic activities such as applied research, biodiversity monitoring, extinction risk assessment, development and implementation of National Action Plans (PANs), management of threatened species, control of invasive alien species, and technical support for protected area management.Promoting awareness of these centers strengthens understanding of their role as critical structures for implementing conservation policies and fulfilling international commitments, such as extinction risk assessments, Reducing Climate Overshoot Risks, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and Scaling Up Resilient Conservation Action.
