Claudia SOARES MARTINS

Biography

Claudia Soares Baré, traditionally named Kirimbawa, is an Indigenous member of the Baré people of the Upper Rio Negro (Amazonas, Brazil). She is a sociologist and leader of the Amazonian Indigenous movement with a career marked by the defense of the rights of Indigenous Peoples. She has worked in grassroots and regional organizations, such as COIAB, where she served as Executive Secretary, and is currently a member of the Executive Board of Podáali – the Brazilian Amazon Indigenous Fund – as Secretary Director.

At Podáali, she is dedicated to consolidating direct funding for Indigenous organizations and territories, strengthening community governance, indigenous self-determination, and the protection of the Amazon as a central element in the fight for climate justice and the development of global solutions led by Indigenous peoples themselves.
