Kúkwpi7 Chief Rosanne Casimir, O.B.C. is an eminent and respected leader of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS), a principal community within the Stk’emlúpsemc te Secwépemc Nation (SSN). The SSN, which includes TteS and the Skeetchestn Indian Band, holds stewardship over Aboriginal Title and Rights across their traditional territory, Secwepemcúlecw. Grounded in both Canadian law and Secwépemc legal traditions, the Nation emphasizes sustainable stewardship—yecwminem—to protect lands, resources, and cultural heritage.
Serving her third term as Chief since 2024 and as only the third woman to hold this office, Chief Casimir is nationally recognized for her leadership in truth and meaningful reconciliation, notably after confirming 215 unmarked anomalies at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. Her advocacy has elevated calls for justice, healing, and systemic change across Canada.
In addition to her role as Chief, she serves on the Board of the BC Assembly of First Nations and is a former Tribal Chief of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council. Her governance advances Indigenous rights, economic sovereignty, cultural revitalization, and community wellness. Chief Casimir leads with integrity, vision, and a steadfast commitment to self-determination and collaborative governance for the wellbeing of her people and Indigenous peoples broadly.
