Felicien Nyenty is a Programme Officer for Conservation Action at IUCN PACO, bringing over seven years of hands-on experience in forestry and wildlife management across Central Africa. He holds a Master’s degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management from the University of Dschang (2015) and is a qualified Forestry Engineer (Ingénieur des Conceptions des Eaux et Forêts).
Felicien’s career spans government service, non-governmental organisations and international conservation initiatives. He began his journey with the Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF), where he served as Programme Officer and Project Coordinator of the SUFACHAC initiative. He later joined the Environment and Food Foundation (E2F) as Wildlife Conservation Officer, implementing field conservation activities in the Douala-Edea landscape. His work included ecological monitoring, environmental education, reforestation, and the control of invasive species such as Salvinia molesta.
Transitioning into public service, Felicien served with Cameroon’s Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife as a Forestry and Wildlife Officer. There, he was actively involved in anti-poaching patrols, wildlife trade monitoring, community sensitisation campaigns, and the management of protected areas in the Littoral Region. He also contributed to data systems for wildlife and timber seizures and supported the legal gazettment of forest domains.
Most recently, Felicien worked as a Data Officer at TRAFFIC Central Africa, where he oversaw the collection and management of data on illegal wildlife trade and logging across the Central African region.
His technical expertise includes ecological monitoring, protected area management, reforestation, wildlife law enforcement, and the administration of timber and non-timber forest products. He also has strong experience in project development and management. Fully bilingual in English and French, Felicien is a skilled communicator and environmental advocate.
He is an active contributor to academic research and a member of the Conservation Biology Society, the American Society of Primatologists and Blue Communities of Plastic Oceans International.
